Recognition Process

IMQ, Instituto ltaliano del Marchio di Qualitä (Italian Quality Mark Institute) founded in 1951, is a nonprofit association having legal status recognized by D.P.R. (presidential decree) N. 134 of January 20, 1971.

Written information on our procedures and rules is available on request.

Applicant submitting a CB Test Certificate can be:

Foreign manufacturer directly
Foreign manufacturer via representative resident in the country
Commercial agent

The following documents should be submitted:

Application form (available on request)
CB Test Certificate
CB Test Report
Rules for granting IMQ mark duly signed

IMQ requires specimen of the product when a CB Test Certificate is presented for national recognition.

We are prepared to recognize annex to the CB Test Certificate and Test Report covering our national deviations.

We deal with incoming CB applications with priority before testing assignments provided the need for re-testing is small.

List of fees is available on request. We have application fee, testing fee, annual fee.
Caution money is demanded, before a contract to use the IMQ mark is signed.
Payment conditions are: Advance payment only for the first application.

Pre-license inspection is required.
Requirements according to: Specific Rules for each product category

Follow up factory inspection is required.
Requirements according to: Specific Rules for each product category.

Samples for follow up testing are taken.
Testing costs for such samples are not charged to applicant.

The license is valid for ever unless canceled earlier because of non-compliance or on the
applicant's request according to IMQ rules.

Appeal in writing against decisions of the NCB shall be directed to:

1st stage: IMQ - Approval Committee
2nd stage: IMQ - Arbitration

The IMQ laboratories are grouped in three Divisions (Low Voltage, Household Appliances and Electronic).The applicant should ask for the relevant "Technical Certification Advisory".

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT MARKS ISSUED BY IMQ

The IMQ mark attests the conformity of electrical products with the requirements of national Standards. This mark covers the scope of the CB Scheme, further on this base IMQ issues a declaration of compliance with directive's safety requirements for the application of CE marking, compulsory in all EU Countries.

The IMQ-UNICIG mark   wpeA.jpg (5323 bytes)

Issued for gas appliances and their components and accessories, the IMQ-UNICIG mark attests conformity with the UNI-CIG safety standards as specified by Law N. 1083 of December 6, 1971.

The IMQ-UNI mark attests the conformity of products with UNI standards.

The HAR mark  

The HAR mark, applied together with the mark of one of the bodies participating in the HAR agreement, attests the conformity of the low voltage cables to the harmonized European standards.

The IMQ-ALARM mark is issued for equipment intended to be used in anti-intruder, anti-theft and anti-assault systems. This mark attests conformity with the safety and performance requirements specified in the corresponding national standards.

This mark attests conformity to the radio interference limits specified in the relevant standards.

The international EMC Mark  wpeF.jpg (6599 bytes)

This mark attests the conformance to the European, Japanese and United States electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

The ENEC mark, applied together with the number 3, which indicates IMQ, attests the conformity of lighting equipment with the EN European standards.

The CECC certificate and CECC mark applied on a product attest the conformity of the electronic components with the relative CECC specifications.

The IECQ certificate attests the conformity of the electronic components with the relative IEC standards.

The IMQ certificate with surveillance   wpe14.jpg (5525 bytes)

The certificate with surveillance is a document stating that a product is corresponding to a technical specification. The products not included in the categories admitted to one of the IMQ marks and for which there is an adequate technical specification can be granted the certificate with surveillance. The specification can be a standard or a draft standard published by CEI, UNI, IEC, ISO, CENELEC, CEN or a foreign standard body.
