Applicant submitting a CB Test Certificate can be:

Foreign manufacturer directly
Commercial agent

The following documents should be submitted:

Application form (available on request)
Application letter giving name and address
CB Test Certificate
CB Test Report
Other documents:
-  Contract
-  Copy of entry in the Register of Chamber of Commerce

We always require a specimen of the product when a CB Test Certificate is presented for national recognition.

We are prepared to recognize annex to the CB Test Certificate and Test Report covering our national deviations.

We deal with incoming CB applications with priority provided the need for re-testing is small.

Pre-lincense inspection is required.
Requirements according to: PM 102 "Testing and Certification Procedure".

Follow-up factory inspection is required.
Requirements according to: PM 102 "Testing and Certification Procedure".

Samples for follow-up checking are taken.
Checking costs for such samples are not charged to the applicant.

The license is valid for those years for which the holder pays the annual fees (in case of VDE-GS mark for five years) unless canceled earlier because of non-compliance or on the holder's request.

Appeal in writing against the decisions of the NCB shall be directed to:
Managing Director of the VDE Testing and Certification Institute.

  • At national level the VDE Institute has been granted accreditation

- by virtue of the German
- by virtue of the German
- by the Federal Minister of Defence as testing body for electronic components;
- by the Federal Office for Motor Traffic (KBA) as testing laboratory for radio interference suppression of
  motor vehicles and tractors used in agriculture and forestry (KBA-21-14);

by the German Accrediation Council (DAR)
- as testing laboratory in accordance with DIN EN 45001 for

  • electronic components (DAT-P-024/92-00)

  • cables and cords (DAT-P-024/92-10)

  • electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) (TTI-P-G 030/94-00)

  • safety of electrical equipment (DAT-P-024/92-01);

- as certification body in accordance with DIN EN 45 011 and DIN EN 45 012 respectively for

  • electrotechnical and electronic products, including safety and electromagnetic compatibility (DAT-ZE-006/93-00)

  • quality management systems in electrical engineering and electronics (TGA-ZQ-009/92-00).

For the purpose of the Single Market of the European Union (EU), the VDE Institute has been accredited by the Federal Government as testing laboratory and certification body and notified to the other member states and the EU Commission under the identification number 0366 by virtue of the following EC Directives:

- EC Low Voltage Directive (73/23/EEC) of 19 February 1973; Articles 8 and 9 (Body for reports or
- EC Sound Power Level Directives on welding and power generators (84/535/EEC and 84/536/EEC) 
- EC Directive on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC; 89/336/EEC) of 3 May 1989:
- EC Machinery Directive (98/37/EC) of 22 June 1998
- EC Directive on personal protective equipment (89/686/EEC) of 21 December 1989;
- EC Directive on medical devices (93/42/EEC) of 14 June 1993
- EC Directive on Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (1999/5/EC).
