All the others also expressed a strong wish to participating in the IECEE, however in light of the present Rules and apart from the financial aspect, the attendees unanimously reported that they would need technical support at the Laboratories level to foresee participation at level III.
In this respect they reiterated that going further with IECEE co-operation would certainly stop proliferation of development of COPANT regional Scheme but to align with the CB Scheme.
The results of the Workshop will be extensively reported at the next COPANT General Meeting (early next year) for a common resolution and to undertake the necessary steps to join the IECEE.
It has to be noted that more and more Countries member of COPANT are using/endorsing at National level IEC Standards.
Overall, the Workshop was successful and should result on effective membership of IECEE of the leading South American Countries in a short timeframe, especially considering that Brazil comeback in the IEC is now effective, Argentina is almost back and that Colombia has recently switched into Associate Member status.
