CEBEC, the Belgian Certification Body, together with other organizations in Europe, was one of the founding members of the CB Scheme, in 1961.
Located in Brussels, the heart of Europe, CEBEC is offering services to numerous companies having their, production plants, headquarters or distribution centres in Belgium or neighbouring countries, as well as to embassies and financial groups. Besides local manufacturers have access to the global market by using CB Certificates to have their products certified abroad.
On request the tests performed by CEBEC or on its behalf, may also include national requirements being in force in foreign countries and deviating from IEC standards. The participation in the CB Scheme for specified products requires that relevant IEC Standards have been implemented at national level with as few deviations as possible.
The present success of the CB Scheme is partially due to the strengthening in the procedures for assessing new candidates and the carrying out of a re-assessment programme of existing members. Also the availability of well-structured Test Report Forms for the recording of test results contributes to the good operability of the CB Scheme.
CEBEC pays the utmost attention to assure the best intelligibility of these very important documents as to the acceptance of the conclusions of the tests results
CEBEC is also providing the service of factory inspections e.g. on request of several organizations in foreign countries. CEBEC certifies quality and environmental management systems. For product certification it is using widely the Supervised Manufacturer’s Testing (SMT), which is a procedure for recognition of test data generated at a manufacturer’s testing laboratory. Stringent regulations and an ongoing verification are applied to assess and qualify the manufacturer’s capability to carry out the tests.
The CB Scheme is also covered by the CEBEC training programs on certification and applicability of standards such as the recent IEC 60950 and IEC 60065 or
ISO/IEC 17025 sessions.
