CSA International provides access to global markets through CB Scheme

CSA Building Established in 1919, CSA International (CSA) is a global leader in the field of standards development, management system registration, product certification, and information products. Operating as an independent, not-for-profit organization supported by more than 8,000 members, CSA has a network of offices in Canada, the U.S., and around the world. The CSA certification mark appears on many products worldwide.

As a standards developer, CSA has been a preeminent backer of international harmonization. In recent years, CSA has adapted more than 250 IEC standards for electrical and electronic products for use in North America. Since becoming the first North American organization to join the CB Scheme in 1991, CSA has been a strong supporter of the Scheme and one of its most active participants. Today, CSA enjoys the broadest scope of CB Scheme participation in North America, and is recognized for the following product categories: IEC 60950 Information Technology; IEC 60601 Series Medical Equipment; IEC 61010 Series Laboratory, Measurement and Control Equipment; IEC 60335 Series for Appliances; IEC 60065 Audio/Visual Equipment; IEC 60691 Fuse Links; IEC 60745 Series Portable Tools; IEC 61029 Series Bench Tools; IEC 60730 Series Controls for Appliances; IEC 60742 Safety Isolating Transformers; and IEC 60342 Fans. To date, CSA has issued nearly 2,400 CB Test Certificates.

The CB Scheme is an important business tool that gives CSA the capability to provide customers around the world with improved access to global markets. CSA is committed to providing one-stop services for customers and to help achieve this goal, supports the continued growth of the Scheme. CSA actively promotes the growth in membership of the Scheme and its users, the addition of new standards and product areas, new options for manufacturers for improved flexibility, and improved efficiency. CSA backs its commitment by contributing resources and expertise to various committees and working groups dealing with operational issues and new developments at the Scheme.

CSA is also actively involved in the IECEx Scheme, which is designed to streamline certification of electrical products used in explosive gas atmospheres and hazardous locations. CSA remains committed to furthering international certification schemes and fostering cooperation amongst certification bodies as a means of improving service to manufacturers around the world.
